11 key pieces for the Tropical Trend

The tropical look is a leading summer trend- think greens, bright colour 'pops' against bold prints, foliage and natural wood. It's an aesthetic which encourages brave style statements, don't hold back and have lots of fun.

The Nina parasol- make a show stopping statement with a parasol covered in palm fronds with verdant green fringing and green interior. You can't get more tropical than this.

Create a verdant setting with some lush pot plants. These grasses are perfect for any garden, patio or balcony. The beauty of pots is that you can move them around and cluster them for effect, staging your outdoor tropical scene. They're available in a set of 10 which saves shopping around for the right combination.

Lighting is seriously important, bad lighting kills ambience. These rattan lanterns from All Things Brighton Beautiful are perfect for the tropical vibe. You can put them on the table, nestle them around the grasses, or hang them from trees.

A bold chevron table runner is a great base for bright coloured tableware and textiles. This one is in a lovely navy zigzag, navy is less harsh than black, from The Pillow Co on Etsy

These bamboo chairs are a gorgeously jungleish addition to your tropical outdoor scene. Available from Light Living.

Some bold bright cushions in contrasting tropical colours will lift the greens and woods. Our green and blue peacock cushions have stunning blue tassels which would perfectly compliment and contrast with our vibrant orange and pink pom pom cushions.

Some really jazzy glasses in bright colours will look amazing against the geometric table runner. These are made from recycled glass and available in sets of 3 from Natural Simplicity.

These super cool palm frond plastic plates are from Sainsbury's and are available in sizes ranging from a dinner plate to a great big one. Stylish and excellent for clumsy people.

Our pink peacock napkins look stunning against green and would add a top note of pink with another bold pattern.

Finish the whole look off with a big wooden bowl, like this from The Original Home Store, filled to the brim with tropical fruits- bananas, pineapple, dragon fruits, slices of watermelon, oranges and limes. Decorate the whole display with flowers for extra colour.
